About the Journal
Commentary and Critique is an open-access scholarly publication dedicated to providing a forum for the critical examination of social science research, with a particular focus on public policy and economics. The journal upholds the principles of free speech and unfettered academic discourse.
We embrace the open exchange of diverse viewpoints, welcoming expressions across the spectrum of political, economic, philosophical, and social thought — from liberalism to conservatism, capitalism to communism, atheism to theism, and feminism to gender equality. We refrain from assigning labels to articles, content, or arguments. Instead, we promote rigorous, evidence-based responses and constructive academic dialogue, encourage intellectual debate conducted with civility and respect, and commit to publishing all articles in good faith.
Aims and Scope
Commentary and Critique publishes original articles that offer critical commentary on social science research, spanning public policy, economics, political science, sociology, anthropology, law, education, and history.
Commissioning, Review, and Publication
The journal combines invited contributions with editorially curated content and operates on a flexible publication schedule, with issues released as content accumulates and editorial judgment warrants. All manuscripts are reviewed by the Editorial Board, which determines — based on the nature and substance of each submission — whether to commission external peer review or to approve publication directly. It should be noted that the journal’s publication criteria are inherently subjective: only articles deemed by the Editorial Board to be of academic significance and discursive value will be accepted for publication. We believe it is precisely this editorial curation that enables the journal to maintain a distinctive academic voice and thematic focus.
